You are invited to Trick or Treat at the Beach!

Children in costumes interact with a woman at a shark-themed candy booth outdoors, with a sign reading "JAWS ATE OUR CANDY TABLE" in the background.

The Great Hauntway is a community powered Halloween party for the whole neighborhood. Enjoy a safe, car-free Halloween at the beach with

trick or treating • live performers • bounce houses • live music

It’s San Francisco’s largest Halloween event, and it’s completely free to attend!

Parking in the neighborhood is limited, so we encourage guests to bike or take Muni.

The N-Judah, L-Taraval, and the 7, 18, 23 & 48 Muni bus lines all service the Hauntway.

Event Bike Parking will be provided at Judah and Taraval.

Baywheels Bike Share stations can be found at Lincoln & La Playa, and Lower Great Highway at Judah, Noriega, Quintara & Taraval.

The Hauntway will appear in Sunset Dunes between Judah and Taraval.

Take the Shuttle!

SF Rec and Park is running a special edition of the Golden Gate Shuttle for Hauntway guests. Pick-up and drop-off in Golden Gate Park will be at the Blue Heron Lake Boathouse and Transverse Dr. at JFK Dr. Drop-off and pick-up at the Great Hauntway will be at Judah St. and Lower Great Highway.

See below for the map of pick-up/drop-off locations and times.

We are committed to a Hauntway that is accessible for everyone.

For children with special needs.

Some children might feel overwhelmed by the crowds at the Taraval and Judah entrances. Our welcome Station at the Pacheco intersection is a quieter location and will have extra trick or treat bags for children with sensory challenges.

Children with food allergies can come to the Pacheco welcome station and pick up a teal pumpkin basket for allergy safe trick or treating. Learn more about the teal pumpkin project here.

ADA accessible park entrances are available at Judah and Taraval, with ramps, transit connections (N-Judah, L-Taraval), white pedestrian-drop-off zones and blue-zone parking spaces. Alternative, usable park entrances are at Lincoln and Sloat, with blue-zone parking spaces available.

There will be non-food treats offered at a number of trick or treat stations. We are sharing Teal Pumpkin Project resources and suggestions with station hosts. We are also sharing resources with station leads on hosting trick or treaters with autism.

If you would like any assistance, please email us at trickortreat@sunsetdunes.org and we’ll do whatever we can to ensure you can join us!
